The Arlberg is closely connected to alpine skiing for more than a 100 years. Not for nothing it is also called the `cradle of alpine skiing´. Maybe it is this bond to alpine skiing that contributes to the special atmosphere of the Arlberg as a skiing destination. A special atmosphere that is popular with locals and visitors from all over the world. The people at the Arlberg did well in maintaining their bond with home and nature and respect from the mountains without disclaiming progress. Only this balance allows sustainable success. Various awards show that this valuable balance works well at the Arlberg area. Thus, the Arlberg skiing area has been awarded as the `Best Freeride Skiing Area 2009´ by the ADAC and as `5-Star Top Resort´ by the International Skiresort Service in the years 2000/01, 2002/03, 2004/05 and 2007/08. Lech/Zürs have been awarded as `Top Skiing-area´ in 2005/06 by www.skigebiets-test.de.
